Risk factors

Aside from age, there are other factors/diseases, which favour the development of cataract:

  • Metabolic diseases such as diabetes

  • Glaucoma

  • Chronic inflammation of the iris

  • Intense light exposure (UV light), infrared light (heat radiation)
